Dilara Demir Bloom – Research Assistant
I am a qualitative researcher, labour organiser and educator with critical pedagogies. I have research experience on access to higher education, healthcare, and community-based participatory action research. I have an MA in Human Rights from University College London, an MA in Sociology from Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey, and am currently finalising my PhD there.
My PhD focuses on the experiences of educational disadvantages from the perspectives of medical students, who try to change the medical system. As a research assistant for College Connect, I support research with communities underrepresented in higher education to understand how universities would be more accessible and diverse.
I believe that research should work proactively for social change and be done by the communities themselves.
